Offered by Marc Menzoyan
Large bronze statue known as "History" personified by a very beautiful young woman writing against a tree. Bronze from the early 20th century (old cast) around 1910, beautiful general state, green patina for the base and the tree, old gold (dark) nuanced according to its lighting (some wear of seniority and resumption of hues). Presence of the BOUCHER signature on the base. Referenced subject (p.246/247) in Jacques Piette's reasoned catalogue: Alfred Boucher (The Sculpted Work), the model chef being kept at the Fondation La Ruche-Seydoux in Paris.
Alfred Boucher 1850/1934 entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1869, a pupil of Paul Dubois, he completed his training with two stays in Italy, his talent was confirmed by important commissions from the state and numerous awards and distinctions: second prize in Rome in 1876, grand prize for sculpture at the 1900 World's Fair... in 1925 he was awarded the Grand Officer's Medal of the Legion of Honour.
