Bronze with a double patina, gold and brown, signed "E. Drouot".
Cast during the artist's lifetime.
Circa 1900

Height 77 cm.

Description:
Beautiful bronze depicting Hebe and the eagle, symbol of Jupiter. Daughter of Zeus and Hera, Hebe embodies youth.
She is depicted holding a cup to offer nectar and ambrosia to Zeus's eagle.
The eagle's eyes are inlaid with two turquoise stones.
The sculpture is signed on the back of the base.

Biography:
Edouard Drouot was born in Sommevoire in 1859 and studied in Paris with Mathurin Moreau. He began exhibiting at the 1889 Salon, winning a third-class medal at the 1892 Salon and an honorable mention at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. He specialized in allegorical and mythological figures, such as those in bronze today.
