Large mahogany veneered psyche mirror, French Consulate period circa 1800.
High quality production, not stamped but very close to Jacob Freres or Marcion (probably made by one of the two).
La Mésangère newspaper, instigator of the fashion from 1797 to 1831 lists this type of model in 1802.
Our psyche is in excellent condition: new varnish, finely chiselled bronzes, fresh mercury gilt (ormolu). The back is stretched with a blue-gray silk satin.
