Naïn Abibian wool and silk rug, made in Iran around 1950, is a wonderful example of the refinement and excellence of this region's craftsmanship. Made from silky lambswool with silk details, it features a midnight-blue central field decorated with floral scrolls, delicate foliage and animal motifs, including birds and quadrupeds. The finely-worked central medallion blends harmoniously into this plant composition, lending the ensemble a timeless elegance. The border, on an ivory background, is richly decorated with flowers and birds, reinforcing the rug's balance and beauty. Resting on a cotton foundation, this piece is characterized by an exceptional knotting density, often exceeding the million knots per square meter, a signature of Naïn rugs.
