Ghoum silk carpet from the Shah era in Iran, circa 1970. This rug is distinguished by its exceptional finesse. It is in excellent overall condition, with a refined motif: an ivory field adorned with branches of fine fleur-de-lys stems, buds, palmettes, birds and stylized animals. Its crenellated old rose central medallion is surrounded by a beige rosette, animated by a landscape with a pair of deer. The balance is perfect, with two stylized oil lamps in symmetry and four spandrels decorated with flower jars framed by dracs, fantastical animals. Eleven borders, including the main lilac one, harmoniously echo the central motif. An exceptional carpet, both fine and original, signed by Ghoum himself.
