Mother-of-pearl plate box set in a gilt bronze frame. The mother-of-pearl plaques are finely chased with stylised laurel leaves and foliate friezes. The hinged lid is decorated with a polychrome silk floral composition resting on green velvet. A curved glass protects the composition. The bouquet is framed by a fine ormolu ring decorated with baskets of flowers. The frame is composed of several mother-of-pearl plaques set with finely chased ormolu elements. Finally, the case frame features elegant knurled decoration. The case rests on four winged lion paws. The interior is fully upholstered. This casket is representative of the mother-of-pearl toiletries created under Charles X. This type of box could be used as a sewing kit or jewellery box.
