Silk Kachan Dabir circa 1880 - Museum piece

Exceptional Kachan Dabir Silk Rug circa 1880 - Museum Piece.
A Kachan Dabir carpet of Persian origin, circa 1880, distinguished by its rarity, importance and exceptional finesse. Produced by the Shah's imperial workshop of Master Dabir at the end of the 19th century, this museum piece offers unrivalled quality.

Density: With a density of around 11,000 knots per dm², the finesse of this carpet is remarkable, illustrating extraordinary craftsmanship.

Technical characteristics: Made with silk velvet on a silk foundation, including warp, weft and silk bangs, it bears witness to a refined and precious technique.

Remarks: In good overall condition, this rug retains a remarkable freshness of color and an exceptional state of preservation.

Décor: This carpet features a poetic décor evoking the terrestrial paradise, inspired by Persian miniatures from the 16th and 17th centuries under the Safavid dynasty and Shah Abbas the First. The ivory field is adorned with a stylized oil lamp surrounded by polychrome flowers, multiple trees of life in rich blossom, original rabbits, hanging birds feeding their chicks in symmetry.

Borders: Seven borders, including the main purplish one, are dotted with inlaid cartouches of multicolored lions, rabbits and stylized birds, surrounded by stylized flowers and foliage, adding to the decorative richness of this work of art.

Dimensions: 314 x 211 cm
