This centerpiece, which can also be used as a planter, is in two parts, the planter of which is placed on a base. The base is rectangular with turbulent sides and adorned with a frieze of leaves and flowers.
The corners bear large spandrels in volutes of foliage.
On the flat side of the base are two motifs in gold painted in crossed garlands and rosettes. The planters are potbellied, on four feet in scrolls of inverted foliage. On each side we will see cartouches painted with bouquets of flowers.
Floral motifs (reeds, branches of leaves and flowers) are gilded and in relief. The upper rim of the planter has the same design as the rim of the base. The quality of this object is exceptional, the elegant technique of the golden motifs in relief is characteristic of the work of Edouard Honoré.
The bouquets of flowers are on the level of beautiful floral miniatures.
The elegant design of this centerpiece is very unusual for its time and even for Paris porcelain in general.
Edouard Honoré had a factory that produced some of the finest porcelain in Paris. He was also associated for a time with Dagoty.
