Art Deco - Art Nouveau - Ceramics and Slip
A masterpiece of Art Nouveau ceramics, this "Faun and Nymph" vase by Alfred Finot, produced by Gentil & Bourdet in 1900, showcases the perfect fusion of sculpture and glazing. Its bulbous base and vegetal neck, enhanced by high-relief decoration, are adorned with a crystalline glaze in vibrant shades of green-yellow, blue, and beige. Bearing the impressed mark "Gentil / Bourdet / Architectes / Céramistes," this exceptional 30 cm tall piece embodies the refinement and innovation of the great ceramists of its time. A similar model was also produced by the Mougin brothers, highlighting the significance of this emblematic creation.
