Allegorical scene where a winged character appears, wearing the attributes of victory (laurel wreath, torch) and comes to raise a young man on the ground... Bronze group published in the early twentieth century by the Société des Bronze de Paris (active between 1875 and 1930), after the original work of the sculptor Charles Vital-Cornu. Signature, stamp of the foundry and numbering on the base. Good condition of presentation, original patina, moderate wear of use. Moulded black marble base 33.5 cm x 23.5 cm x 9.2 cm weight16.3 kg not included in the dimensions indicated (total height 84.5 cm), traces of fixing a plaque probably bearing the title of the work (not very visible).
Charles Vital-Cornu was born in Paris (1851/1927) student of Jouffroy and Pils his works are exhibited at the Salon from 1876, member of the French Artists since 1885 he obtains many awards including a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. He was named Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1896.
