Rectangular gold box with rounded corners, hinged lid decorated with scrolls on an amatized background. The lid is decorated with a central oval medallion framed by a guilloche of parallel stripes. The medallion presents a composition in hair. A fine frieze of interlacing and stylized fruits frames this composition. The base is decorated with parallel striations and a floral frieze. This snuffbox is characteristic of the objects of feelings of the beginning of the 19th century. Restauration, circa 1820-1840.

Louis-François, son of Jean-François Tronquoy and Louise Ferdinande Morin, was born on 20 May 1798 at 639 rue des 4 vents, 11th arrondissement, Paris. On 4 January 1827, he was registered at 8 rue des Prouvaires, probably taking over the business and premises of goldsmith Simon-Achille Léger. Tronquoy continued to work at the same address until 28 June 1871.
