17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Elegant bookcase / showcase with two bodies in kingwood veneer, from the Regency period.
The upper body is slightly recessed and opens with two doors with windows in arched arches.
The lower part opens with two leaves surmounted by two drawers.
The veneer of the doors and sides are inlaid with butterfly wings with reserves harmoniously resuming the curved shape of the windows. The interior of the doors is also in kingwood veneer.
The refinement of this library is enhanced by a very beautiful ornamentation of gilded and chiseled bronzes.
Note in particular, on the lower body, the two beautifully chiseled bronze ingot molds, one of which is heart-shaped decorated with palmettes; on the uprights of each of the doors, a chiselled bronze molding in braided interlacing, while the upper cornice of the piece of furniture is lit by a large gilded bronze molding
