Rectangular wood coffee table made of a tray and cubist feet entirely covered in buff colour lacquer. The belt of the top, ornamented with a double bulge furrow, encloses a polychrome lacquered table tray depicting three Pekinese dog. This table demonstrates by itself the virtuosity of the artist for the decorations integrated in his pieces of furniture.
Signed: "Jean Dunand" on the table top at the bottom right and numbered 214 below the table top.

Remarks:
A genius coppersmith, silversmith, lacquer, sculptor, the name of Jean Dunand is associated to the Decorative Arts. The influence of Japanese lacquer Sugarawa living in France, he becomes an exceptional lacquer.
With great dexterity, he mastered gold and silver inlays and metal filings application based on melting metal, upon objects with geometric designs enhanced with colored lacquers.
