Wall Pannel By Carlo Bugatti, Milan, Ca. 1900

Extraordinary wall panel by Carlo Bugatti with an architectural relief by Enrique Linares (Granada since approx. 1870) and a guache by Alberto Pellegrini (Milan 1870-1943) Ebonized wood and walnut, with inlays as well as roughened, natural leather and ornamented applications made of copper sheet. Yellowish patinated stucco element. Upright rectangular panel, edged on both sides. Rare, extensive camel skin covering and left-aligned ornamented copper appliqué. In the middle there is a rectangular reserve, flanked with full columns partly wrapped in embossed copper as a frame for the embedded architectural plaque with a relief-sculpted Moorish archway and richly decorated ornamental friezes. Behind it a painted metal plaque with a young oriental woman and a traffic light motif. signed Alberto Pellegrini; H. 76.5 cm x 60 cm. This unusual decorative element by Carlo Bugatti (Milan 1856- Molsheim 1940), with its roughened leather surface, leads his joy in combining a wide variety of materials, which he also demonstrates in his parchment-covered objects under evidence of his favorite Moorish design language. As far as we know, the collaboration with Enrique Linares et Alberto Pellegrini is unique! See on the framing: Dejean, p. 92f. Italy. Milan.ca.1900.
