Vase with geometrical decor by Claudius Linossier

Claudius Linossier (1893-1953) was one of the greatest French coppersmiths of the first half of the 20th century. Trained in locksmithing and silversmithing in Lyon, he perfected his skills with Jean Dunand. He returned to Lyon in 1920 to open his own workshop in the Croix-Rousse district. His work is characterized by geometric motifs and inlays of silver or antimony. He was honored at the Exposition Internationale des Arts décoratifs et industriels modernes in 1925. He notably collaborated with Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann. From then on, collectors from all over the world bought his pieces, and he enjoyed a success story that was interrupted by the Second World War, when he was mobilized for the war effort at the Rochet-Schneider factory.
His work is preserved in numerous museums and prestigious collections around the world.
