JOHANN MEINRAD GUGGENBICHLER born 1649 Einsiedeln/ Switzerland – died 1723 Mondsee (workshop)
After the death of his father, who was a stone sculptor and master builder, Guggenbichler completed his education as a sculptor with his brother Johann Michael Guggenbichler in Dillingen/Bavaria. From the 1670s he made altars, church furnishings and sculptures for important churches and monasteries.
e.g. Sankt Florian near Linz, as well as altars in Straßwalchen, Mondsee Monastery, Irrsdorf, St. Wolfgang, Oberwang etc.
PAIR OF CANDLE ANGELS
Upper Austria, around 1680 Linden wood, sculpted, polychrome painted and gilded. H. 47.5 cm and 47 cm (up to the tip of the thorn). Each on a round base full-length depiction of two candlesticks belonging together Engels in a slightly moved posture with outstretched wings, holding a candlestick. part damaged and rest.
Perfect state of conservation, some minimal restaurations
