Offered by Anne Besnard
This rare and beautiful walnut chaise longue is from the Louis XIV period, it rests on 6 legs said to be in sheep bone ending in a volute, they are joined by X-shaped struts, richly molded and richly carved at the intersections of rosettes. The slightly inclined backrest is provided on both sides with cheeks called ears. If various chaise longues or daybeds from the Louis XV or Louis XVI period are frequent on the market, it is very rare to find this same piece of furniture from the Louis XIV period. In a good state of conservation this piece of furniture has however benefited from some restorations, almost invisible, small grafts have been made to the strut and a foot redone. The upholstery has just been resumed and this bed of rest was covered with a new fabric with fine herringbone. Particularly feminine piece of furniture, this bed of rest will find easily its place in a bedroom or a living room, provided with numerous cushions one will be able to curl up there to read or listen to music comfortably.
