Paris 1809-1819 – French Empire sauceboat in solid silver by S.S. Rion

"Helmet"-shaped sauce boat in 950 thousandths solid silver resting on an oval pedestal, underlined with friezes of water leaves. Magnificent panther's head handle, the leafy attachment chiseled with acanthus and scrolling flowers.
It is adorned in the central part with coats of arms: "d'azur au lion rampant d'argent, sous couronne de marquis, deux lions portants" perhaps for the CHAPT DE RASTIGNAC family, marquis de Rastignac and de Laxion; Lord of Montamat.

• Vieillard 1er titre (French mark for solid silver 950/1000).

SIXTE-SIMON RION

Successor of the silversmith Firmin-Chrysostome CAUËT, Sixte-Simon RION registered his mark on 20 October 1807. He was installed at 27 rue de Harlay in Paris, then at 2 rue du Pont-de-Lodi and at 10, place Dauphine in 1824 and finally at 8 cour de Harlay in 1835.
Its warranty numbers are 1046, 2509, 3053, 3119 and 3402.
