An exceptionally rare and monumental gilt bronze centerpiece, created by the prestigious house of Christofle & Cie, designed by the renowned French sculptor Paul Gasq (1860-1944). This impressive work was awarded the Prix d'Honneur at the Concours Général Agricole in the summer of 1913, the most prestigious agricultural exhibition in France. The composition pays homage to rural life with a noble allegory: a standing farmer, a seated young woman with a sickle, and a child drinking from a horn. The base is decorated with botanical motifs and flowing lines characteristic of the Belle Époque, all with exquisite detail. The base bears the original inscriptions: PRIME D'HONNEUR DORÉ – À CAMAGNES MINISTÈRE DE L'AGRICULTURE CONCOURS GÉNÉRAL – PRIX D'HONNEUR – DE L'ÉTÉ 1913 Signed P. Gasq. Dimensions: 105 x 53 x 50 cm A unique, officially awarded ceremonial centerpiece, combining sculptural refinement with institutional and historical gravitas.
