17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Elegant Parisian commode, called ''en tombeau'', curved front and sides from the 18th century.
It opens with four drawers in three rows (two drawers in the upper row).
It is adorned with a harmonious ornamentation of inlaid flowers in maple wood and tinted boxwood on a maple background, in amaranth frames and rosewood fillets.
The sides have the same floral decoration on a tobacco-tinted maple background.
It is crowned with gray marble surrounded by a ''bec de corbin'' molding.
The frame and the interior of the drawers are mounted on oak.
To perfect its quality of execution, this chest of drawers is also adorned with a rich ornamentation of gilded bronzes: foliated handles, asymmetrical keyholes, Rocaille lamp base, openwork bronze drops on all the front uprights.
