French 17th & 18th centuries furniture and Arts
Exceptional and very important Commode in veneer from Dauphiné with a bronze trim with a crowned C.
The woods used are satinwood, rosewood and cherry burr.
Its original marble is a blue marble of turquin.
Conceived under Louis XV to be a tax mark, the crowned C has also become for collectors a mark of quality and date: used between 1745 and 1749, it seems to have been carved only on the most refined bronzes.
Our chest of drawers has a contrasting set of marquetry and a cloverleaf figure on its sides.
It could be related to the production of the great cabinetmakers "the Hache".
Dimensions : w.144 cm x d.64 cm x h.94,5 cm.
Louis XV period chest of drawers, circa 1745, 18th century.
In perfect condition.
