Important and beautiful Louis XVI period cartel, 18th century, signed Nicolas-Antoine
Le Nepveu (1736-1796).
We present a very fine Louis XVI period cartel circa 1780, in gilt bronze sculpted with foliage, a faun's head and a fire pot.
Private collection.
Dimensions: h.90 cm x l.47 cm.
In working order (later hands from the Empire period).
History :
Nicolas-Antoine Le Nepveu (1736-1796) supplied clocks as a free-lance worker
around 1767. In 1773, he became an accomplished master clockmaker, “by privilege of the Hôpital de la Trinité. He worked in rue de Salkle au Compte and rue Malgloire.
