17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Very nice pair of Louis XVI armchairs in light gray and blue lacquer.
They are based on four square-section sheath feet, each side of which is decorated with a single large rudent groove.
The front rails of the seats as well as the top of the backs are decorated with large knots typical of the Louis XVI period.
The armrest consoles feature elegant acanthus leaves.
The ornamental repertoire of neoclassical inspiration, the atypical base so representative of the master allows us to attribute this beautiful pair of armchairs to the famous Nîmes carpenter Pierre Nicolas Pillot (1748 - 1822) - Master in Nîmes towards the end of the reign of Louis XVI.
Pierre Pillot has signed quite a number of works and mainly seats treated in a characteristic Louis XV and Louis XVI style, where we can recognize the double influence of Lyonnais taste and Italian art.
Our armchairs are in perfect condition and are covered with a very beautiful silk from the famous Maison Germain in Lyon.
