A provincial French ( South- East) red , yellow and polychrome-decorated Lacca Povera commode , open with three long drawers , all decorated overall with polychrome engraved vignettes depicting a variety of scènes ,foliate, floral scrolls , birds , figures and pastoral scènes , chinoiseries on the sides .
The bronze pull handles decorated with confronting sea horses.

The Arte Povera technique was developed in northern Italy and Venice during the 18th century before spreading throughout Europe, particularly in south-eastern France near Piedmont.
