Neoclassical mirror from the Louis XVI period circa 1780. Elegant neoclassical mirror from the Louis XVI period in carved and gilded lime wood, burnished and amati; it is divided into two distinct parts, an upper part, the pediment and a lower part mainly encasing the mirror; this one possessed in a frame mounted with split battons lined with a vertical Mediterranean pine floor. The planar pyramidal trilateral pediment is carved in the round of openwork hump. This is decorated in the middle part with a partially unrolled palimpsest, crisscrossed in waves and centered with a strip of foliage topped with a leafy acanthus. From both sides and the other of which escapes multiple olive branches loaded with fruit and foliage as dense as serrated; inexhaustible source of strength and generosity, the whole symbolizing culture, sustainability and wisdom. The main part of rectangle quadrilateral form encases the mirror. This is made up on the periphery of a strip with double flat profiles, decorated with stripes of hearts on a first level then stripes of pearls on the inner periphery A central clip, unifies the two parts giving the whole a visual of the most homogeneous. The ice consists of a flat glass plate lined with tin and lead immersed in a mercury bath in order to dissolve them there. The tin associated with the lead then giving this warm and luminous side to the mirror called "mercury". Note the delicacy, finesse and nervousness of execution of this mirror which is matched only by the minimalism of the most neoclassical free from the excesses of previous styles. Observation: This mirror is in a fabulous state of conservation totally from the period. A simple cleaning of the golden woods was practiced according to the rules of the art.
