Very rare and very large drawing by Victor Prouvé made in 1904 signed and dated.
Charcoal, pastel and gouache.
Exceptional representation of the main character in the painting on the ceiling of the entrance to the Bergeret house (made in 1905/1906).
The canvas was kept (by mistake) in the reserves of the Museum of Fine Arts. In the 1950s, it was confused with another ceiling canvas by Victor Prouvé (that of the Prefecture of Nancy) which was then stored at the Presidency of the University of Nancy (which occupied the Maison Bergeret) but in a closet. Much deteriorated because forgotten, it underwent a meticulous restoration in 2011 before returning to its original location.
This drawing, of great pictorial quality, both for charcoal and pastel, is reminiscent of the pencil stroke and the women of Lautrec.
