Pair of Queen-style armchairs in almond green lacquered wood with ocher yellow finish. Work from the Louis XV period stamped by Sylvain Nicolas Blanchard.
Sylvain Nicolas Blanchard, received master in 1743, comes from a line of master carpenters in seats and the eldest son of Nicolas Blanchard. Most of his work is in the Louis XV style. The seats bearing his stamp are few in number, but elegant and of very good quality. The sculptures and decorations of small flowers and foliage are of great finesse.
Very beautiful decoration with fat and generous moldings, finely carved flowers. Everything is elegant and exquisite in these seats: sculpture, curves, counter-curves, accuracy of proportions.
Each chair is stamped under the belt, one of the two stamped twice (also on the outer belt)
Our chairs are in very good condition. The carpentry has no play. The trim has been redone in horsehair on straps. For these seats, our restoration was inspired by a salon by Jean Pierre Gourdin that we sold a few months ago. We therefore had the seats relaunched in almond green and re-embossed in ocher yellow the reliefs and covered the seats with a charming silk with raspberry-colored chinoiseries which delicately stood out from the almond green of the lacquer. Each armchair is unique, the cut plane of the silk has been made in such a way as to create a unique but coordinated seat and back for each seat. The whole exudes a great freshness, the lightness of the 18th century in a taste and more Provençal colors.
