The CORIOLIS is a noble family of ancient extraction, of Italian origin, established in Provence under the Ancien Régime.
It has magistrates, sailors and soldiers. It also provided several commanders of the Hospitallers of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, among others Pierre de CORIOLIS, knight of Malta, commander of Montferrand and general of the galleys in 1450.
Ally of many great families, the house of CORIOLIS owns in particular the barony of Corbières (seigneury erected into barony in 1627), the barony of Limaye (seigneury erected into barony in 1646), the Marquisate of Espinouse (1651) as well as the Marquisate of Puymichel and the Marquisate of Sainte-Jalle.

Jean-François VEYRAT, goldsmith at 10, rue de la Tour, Paris. Registered mark on May 5, 1832, deleted mark on January 18, 1840. Prefecture number : 3260, warranty number : 3113.
Documentation : "Archives de la Garantie, Paris : pl. d’insculp. N°29, Archives de la Garantie, Paris : registre d’insculp. 1820 à 1840."

Jean-François VEYRAT began his career in 1815 by manufacturing objects in silver plating. In 1830 he began to manufacture solid silver pieces.
He will receive numerous awards and decoration, including a silver medal at the Exposition des Produits de l’Industrie Française in 1834, as well as another in 1839. His pieces are classic but noted for the elegance of their design and their beautiful quality of execution : complete table services but also important pieces, boxes, tobacco jars, coffee services in vermeil and enamel, and even groups, including for example the Abduction of Ganymede whose drawing has come down to us .

His son, Augustin Pierre Adolphe VEYRAT, born in Paris in 1809. He was registered in 1833 at 5 rue de la Vieille Draperie as "guillocheur and box assembler". Associated with Jean-Valentin MOREL (1794-1860), a famous goldsmith and jeweler, he presented jewels in fine stones and mosaics at the Exposition des Produits de l’Industrie Française in 1834. We find traces of their production with a gold snuffbox with the arms of the Prince of Wales, future George IV, restored by VEYRAT and MOREL in the 1833's ("Jewels of the Duchess of Windsor", Sotheby’s Geneva, April 3, 1987, lot 201). He will soon join his father's workshop to take over.

In 1840, VEYRAT became VEYRAT & Fils, at 20, rue de Malte, then VEYRAT Fils on October 31, 1849.

Judge at the commercial court, the one who will be designated at the end of his life as "VEYRAT father", will also be a member of the Comité de l’Union Centrale des Beaux-Arts Appliqués, vice-president of the Chambre syndicale de la Bijouterie et de l’Orfèvrerie, and Officier de l'Académie in 1874.
It is seen, in the years 1867 as the head of one of the most important establishments of Paris, by the arrangement and the number of workers.
