Brass and wrought iron
The andirons owe their denomination to their form, which originally was that of small dogs or crouching animals which gave first « chiénet » or « chiennet » the « chenet ».
With their small dimensions, these two very refined andirons, were in the chimney of a room.
Their decor is made of a feminine face with drapery supporting a cube molded at the top, ending with an elegant top. Ornaments of foliage are delicately carved on the base. This decoration dates from the first half of the 16th century.
