French furniture & objets d'art from the 18th century
Very beautiful Regence double-sided desk in ebony veneer for the front and sides and blackened wood for the four feet.
It opens in front by 2 times three curved drawers and a central drawer in slight withdrawal.
The front and sides are encrusted with brass nets. Its curved feet are decorated with falls with bearded satyrs heads and end with interlocking hooves. The sides are decorated with masks.
All drawer fronts are walnut.
Old red leather top encircled with a beautiful chiselled mold and with spandrels representing bearded heads
Our office (circa 1700/1715) perfectly illustrates the very beginning of the Regency, still close to the Louis XIV period with its piles of drawers inherited from the Mazarin desk.
Varnished stamp, bronzes redorés, changed leather.
