Pair of gilded bronze sconces whose stem is divided into two intersecting branches of different lengths. They are decorated with acanthus leaves and have mismatched bobeches and binnacles.
The lower spout is leaf-shaped, while the upper spout is decorated with a frieze of cartouches. The binnacles are also decorated differently: one with gadroons and cabbage leaves, the other with water leaves.
The craftsman who produced these sconces chose to save his work on the less visible parts, in order to concentrate on those more apparent. For this reason, the center of the lowest wick is not decorated.
The elegance of these two wall sconces lies in the complexity of their forms, typical of the Rocaille taste. This aesthetic trend, in vogue during the reign of Louis XV, is manifested by the presence of a plant decoration combined with free, asymmetrical and harmonious forms.
Presence of holes due to an electrification.
