Rare and elegant rectangular flat desk in mahogany and mahogany veneer.
The light-brown leather-lined top with gilt tooled writing surface, above two long frieze drawers to the front and two simulated drawers to the other side. Adorned with a fine and discreet gilt-bronze decoration.
Resting on four fluted and tapering legs ending with a gilt bronze sabot.
Stamped by the cabinetmaker Etienne AVRIL, whose pieces can be seen in the Château de Fontainebleau and Musée Marmottant.
He also produced pieces of furniture for the Queen Marie-Antoinette for Her castel in Saint-Cloud.
