Hannya mask positioned on a trompe-l’œil base that conceals a hollow compartment shaped like an egg. When the mask is lifted, the visual illusion is revealed: what appears to be the top of the box is in fact the mask itself.
Silk threads inserted into the eyes enhance the expressiveness of the face.
The mask features excellent gloss and patina.

Condition: Overall excellent condition. Two small chips, now restored, are present along the inner upper edge of the mask.
