17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Charming pair of 18th century pendant cherubs, sculpted in the round and polychrome.
Both are depicted naked, veiled in a simple pleated drape, twirling around their plump bodies, seeming to fly weightlessly or dance with their wings outstretched.
The faces with full, plump cheeks are topped with curly hair. The gaze expresses all the liveliness of childhood while a slight smile of sweetness appears on their lips.
The aesthetic representation announces the Baroque movement with a sculpture based on the expressiveness of the face and the taste for the movement of the drapery.
