An archer's ring sculpted as a feather headdress. Mughal India, 18th century, ivory. The base of this typically shaped ivory ring is pierced with holes and topped with a feather cap. Ivory archer's rings were very fashionable in India in the 18th century. Many miniatures show portraits of courtiers wearing archer's rings both as objects of use and objects designed to reinforce social rank. Height: 2,8cm.
