Carpenter-cabinetmaker. Paris. Master on November 5, 1755 Son of a master carpenter, Jean Baptiste Fromageau born around 1725, set up his workshop on rue Traversière before moving to rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine. The Dauphin almanac mentions his house as one of the most important in Paris. His abundant production is of a very great diversity. He specializes as much in luxury cabinetmaking as in simple carpentry. We can cite secretaries, sloped desks, sideboards, bookcases, wardrobes, tables .... but especially very many chests of drawers as well in the style Regency, Louis XV, Transition or Louis XVI. He uses very little bronze, generally only for keyholes, and decorates his productions with marquetry often with flowers or branches drawn in an elegant and precise way. He ceased his activity in 1777, retired for a while to Versailles before returning to Paris in 1781.
