Exceptional Tabriz rug from the Imperial Workshop of Maitre Hadji Alil, dating from the 1920s. Made of high-quality silky lambswool kork velvet on cotton backing.
A brick-red field decorated with polychrome garlands and tendrils of palmettes, stylized flowers and foliage, adorned with two crenellated medallions and ivory and Prussian blue stars in the form of stylized diamonds inlaid with multicolored floral sprigs.
Composed of four bluish-gray crown-shaped spandrels inlaid with ruby flower buds. Five borders, the main one beige, decorated with finely drawn polychrome flower bulb seedlings surrounded by interlacing lace foliage In the form of stylized turtle shells.
