Offered by Marc Menzoyan
A young lady kneeling on a green carpet seems to be listening to a dove held in the hollow of her shoulder. Bronze statue (lost wax specified) signed Sylvestre Clerc and dated 1929, cast and published by the house of Susse frères in Paris (presence of the stamps of provenance). A beautiful evocation of childhood imbued with purity and gentleness. Art-Deco period, original nuanced green patina, excellent state of presentation.
Sylvestre Clerc (1892/1965), a sculptor from Toulouse, entered the Beaux-Arts of his native city in 1907, in 1913 he joined the École nationale des beaux-arts in Paris where he received the teachings of Jules Coutan.
