Terracotta bust of a young woman, her head tilted slightly to the left, ignoring the viewer. The subject is dressed in a simple antique-style drapery held in place by a thin strap, defining the lower base of the bust cut out at the shoulders. The curly hair, tied with a light ribbon and falling from behind in elegant curls, subtly decorates the temples with its waves, revealing the ears and freeing the face. The treatment of the eyes as well as the gaze, by deepening the pupil but also delineating the forms with a delicate line, evokes an expression of wisdom and tenderness in the subject. The sculptor, who remains anonymous, avoided the frivolous details of the period to focus his attention on the general interiority and psychological introspection of his character. This work displays the taste and mastery of clay modeling so characteristic of the 18th century, influenced by Houdon and Pigalle. Dimensions: Height 49.4cm - Width 27.5cm.
