17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Domed rectangular plaque, in polychrome enamel highlighted with late 17th century gold.
In an oval medallion with a black background, framed by a white border, Christ, in three-quarter right bust, is represented on a cloud. He is dressed in a barely visible brown tunic covered with a large blue coat finely outlined with golden threads.
This adolescent Christ wears long curly hair on his shoulders and looks up to the sky.
Its head is surrounded by a fine radiant halo.
The treatment is careful in the drawing as in the luminous color of the translucent blues and browns. The contouring and soft pink complexion of the face offer us a very refined and high quality result.
In the corners, white rocailles in relief frame the medallion.
On the reverse, the translucent purplish counter-enamel bears the inscription ''Laudin Emailleur a Limoges. HE''
