Our opinion :
The corner cabinet that we are presenting is characteristic of the very first furniture imitating oriental lacquer made in Paris at the very beginning of the reign of Louis XV.
The absence of a stamp and the shape of the piece of furniture tell us that we are in the 1740s.
This luxury production was commissioned by a haberdashery merchant who supplied the marble and bronzes, with subcontracting to a master cabinetmaker for the frame and to a varnisher from Faubourg St Antoine for the decoration.
The frame may appear very sober at first glance but it has a very ingenious design, with concave and convex curves and an absence of low crosspiece which are the sign of high quality furniture.
The decor is also very studied since it takes up recurring subjects found on the leaves of certain EDO period cabinets.
Finally, the height of luxury, the corner is covered with a very beautiful yellow breccia marble, which is a reminder of the gold decoration of the lacquer.
