Statuette of Hebe goddess of youth taking the appearance of a naked young woman, a cup in her hand. Art-Deco bronze (1920/1930) bearing the stamps of the Parisian foundry Les Neveux de Jules Lehmann (LNJL) publisher of many sculptors in this movement. Very good general condition, satin golden patina and light glossy highlights, nuanced olive green patina base (restoration probable). Signature and numbering on the base.
Léonard Van Weydeveldt (known as Agathon) sculptor of Belgian origin naturalized French begins his training at the Academy of Fine Arts of Lille, student of the sculptor Eugène Delaplanche he is a member of the Society of French Artists until 1896 when he joins the Society of Fine Arts. His works will be present at the Salon from 1868 until 1914. Receiving orders from the State, he will receive many awards including a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900 and named Knight of the Legion of Honor.
