Bronze statue with green patina published around 1925 by the Susse frères foundry in Paris, after the original plaster exhibited at the Salon of 1904. Beautiful state of presentation, signature and stamp of cast iron on the base.
Antonin Carlès was born in 1851 in Gimont (Gers) his training as a sculptor began in Marseille and Toulouse before arriving in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and receiving the teachings of François Jouffroy and Ernest Hiolle. A member of the Société des Artistes Français, he participated in the Salon from 1878 to 1914. Grand Prix at the Universal Exhibition of 1889, his works are present in the greatest museums and national monuments, in 1913 he will be elevated to the rank of Commander of the Legion of Honor.
