Small pair of gilt bronze statuettes depicting two seated Chinese figures.
The man, arms outstretched, looks up to his left. He is seated on a block of quartz and draped in a simple garment that simply reveals his left shoulder and torso. Like an old Chinese sage, he wears a long finely chiseled beard, his very oval skull ends in a lock of hair.
The taller woman is seated with her feet crossed on a gilt bronze rock adorned with some foliage.
She supports with her right hand a very large umbrella in yellow sheet metal, while her left hand is delicately placed on her knees.
She wears a stylized three-ply douli. His garment is finely chiseled and bent at the waist by a belt.
The parasol she holds is removable.
19th century work in their original gilding.
