Offered by Antiquités Garnier
His very rare pair of shuttle vases is like the 17th or 18th century vases inspired by the Antique.
They are carried on a cavetto pedestal and linked to the vase by a bead.
The body, like a ship, is oval in plan and curved in relation to the horizontal, like a prow and a rising stern. Large overhanging gadroons widen the base, a large falling edge balances the whole, giving this type of object a perfect look of simplicity.
The curved lid to hug the edge of the vase is crowned by a large gadrooned grip as well, completing the perfect balance of the design. Like any old work, it is a perfection for the eye, without faults of proportions.
But the covers are not interchangeable because the oval is different by a few millimeters, you could call it the beautiful imperfection born from the hand of man until the industrial age. The underside of the pedestal is probably flattened with a grain of barley hammer.
The peach blossom marble that can be seen from pink to purple in general is for our vases is of a hot pink, which varies in shades of pink almost white with Magenta veins, Mountbatten ...
