Beautiful chest of drawers of strongly curved form in violet wood veneer with rhombus frieze. It opens with 4 drawers on 3 rows (2 large, 2 smaller at the top); oak structure; it is topped with a Portor marble molded in beak of corbin. Rich decoration of finely chiseled and gilded bronzes typical of the rocaille style. Our chest of drawers is characterized by the play of curves and counter curves (concave and convex drawers) and the small thin feet that give it a perfect line, very elegant. The use of a luxury marble, differentiates it from common productions.
Parisian work of the Louis XV period around 1750, it bears the stamp of IB Hedouin struck four times on the four upper corners with the JME hallmark.
Jean-Baptiste Hedouin (Died January 1783) Cabinetmaker-maker. Paris. Master on May 22, 1738. In his workshop in the rue Traversière-Saint-Antoine, Hedouin produced mainly commodes, but also secretaries and flat desks decorated with various marquetries, often with geometric patterns in the Louis XV style and always of good quality.
Beautiful piece of furniture in perfect condition: completely restored in the rules of art with a beautiful varnish with the stamp redone to nine, its original marble (very well restored: you have to look for the restoration on the top to find it, we see it underneath by turning the marble)
