Marble praying saint, probably Saint Francis of Assisi, 18-19th c. Italy

Sculpted in the round but deliberately unfinished on the right side, this statue of a Franciscan saint probably represents Saint Francis of Assisi before his stigmatization. This work was probably presented laterally, on the left side, at the foot of a cross or a Madonna.
Good condition, no notable accident but foxing and traces of oxidation. The base shows traces of mortar from its present installation.
