Marble bust of woman

The subject of this extremely fine portrait wears her hair in a fashion associated with Faustina minore period , wife of the emperor Marco Aurelio (r. A.D. 161-180). The wavy hair is parted in the center, looped back over the ears to form a wide flat braid pinned to the back of the head.
