A Louis XV chest of drawermid stamped Birclet early 18th century

Louis XV period chest of drawers, made of rosewood and tulipwood veneer on an oak and resinous frame . Curved on all its visible faces, its amounts are pinched. It is to note a small specificity of our chest, the movement all in curve and counter curve of each of the sides does not come to die in a traditional way by marrying the posterior plane amount as usual, but lasts by optimizing the visual beyond the amounts . Our chest of drawers opens with three long drawers with visible support rails. Its decoration is embellished with a beautiful ornamentation of finely chiseled and gilded bronzes, such as handles, entries of lock, without forgetting falls, cul-de-lampe, sabots feuillagés and key rocaille. The whole is topped with a sheet of royal red marble from Hautmont, also called red Louis XIV. This name comes from the special affection that the great monarch had for this marble, which is as harmonious as it is decorative. Of all the Belgian marbles, Louis XIV red is the one most frequently used in the decoration of our monuments; it can be found in the palaces of Versailles, the Louvre, as well as in the Palais-Royal among others. Balance, elegance, sobriety and quality are the most appropriate terms for this chest of drawers from the first decades of Louis XV's reign. It is worth noting the great care taken with the connecting elements of impeccable quality. The stamp of Laurent Charles Birclet, is stamped on the left rear post, under the marble. Dimensions (at the marble): Width: 112.3cm - Depth: 57.6cm - Height: 84.8cm. This piece of furniture has been perfectly restored such as stabilization of raised veneer, finishing with pad varnish and cleaning of bronzes.
Laurent-Charles Birclet Master in Paris on October 20, 1766. Laurent Charles Birclet, known as "Bircklé le jeune", was the younger brother of Jacques Bircklé. He had his workshop in the rue de Charenton. In his youth he trained in the workshop of Pierre Migeon.
