The Manufacture Pichon in Uzès, a fine pottery company has survived since the 19th century.
At the origin of this family of earthenware makers Jacques Philippe Pichon, we observe many transfers of techniques and models due to the recruitment of external craftsmen.
Vital Clocquart is listed in 1831 in Uzès, son of an earthenware maker, he practiced in Lodève between 1823 and 1825 which explains the similarities between the two productions.
The famous mixed earthenware of Vallauris can be linked to the arrival of Jean Gerbino who worked in the Pichon workshop in 1912.
The specialty of Pichon remains the mixed earth unique mixture of colored earth in the mass giving the effect of a marble with multicolored veins, the oldest have only three colors: white, red and black.
The green obtained thanks to copper oxide and the blue resulting from the contribution of cobalt frit appear during the 3rd quarter of the 19th century.
